Design Sprint Kit

Prototyping - Real Enough

Build a facade of the experience

The Design Sprint methodology can be used for many different business problems, not just digital products. It can be used to design and test physical spaces, physical products, processes or even brands.

The prototyping tools you choose will depend on what you decide to build. For digital products there are many great options out there. We've linked to some in the Resources section. One important thing to note: Do not attempt to learn a new tool during a sprint. It is far more effective to use the tool you are most comfortable with (or your maker is most comfortable with) even if it’s not exactly the right fit for your output.

Prototyping Tips

  1. Take shortcuts: prepare assets in advance for your team that might be needed to make quick mocks.
  2. For example, create a Sketch sticker sheet to collect logos, imagery and screenshots of your existing product.
  3. If you’re prototyping a physical product, hold your sprint in a maker space or workshop and collect the necessary physical materials you need to make fast prototypes.

You don’t want to spend Prototyping time searching the internet for images or running to a hardware store.
