Sometimes the best ideas are ones that already exist— they simply need to be repurposed, presented in a new context, or combined with other ideas. So, a great Sketch Warm Up is to have team members research industries related to yours and review business problems similar to yours and their solutions. This can be assigned as homework at the end of the Understand phase or can be done on the fly.

Directions:

Time: 3 minutes per person to share
Activity: Group

1. Look for ideas from other industries or fields that relate to your business problem.
2. Each person will then have 3 minutes to share their examples with the group.
3. A good example is if you are designing an app to help homeowners find a service provider to come fix the plubming in their home, you might look to other matching apps, such as dating apps, or nanny-finding apps.
